AUGUST RUSH ( A film aBout Music and drama )

August Rush Pictures, Images and Photos

"The heart of the story is how we respond and connect through music. It's about a young boy, August Rush, who believes that he's going to find his parents through his music. That's what drives him."

I really Love this conversation:
Evan’s naughty friend : “No, you can’t, Freak!!”
Evan : “Yes, I can”
N Evan didn’t tremble at all although his friend insisted him again and again.. It’s just so much touching.

I’ve got a lesson from this film that this world, many times, drives the way we think.. This world often makes us weak. And the point of what August said is we gotta have a faith on ourselves.. Because it will bring us to success and what we have dream about as long as this time.

N the entertaining side, Oh Gosh!! The Dueling Guitar is just freaking awesome.. Two thumbs up for Heitor Pereira and Kaki King. It’s so much different with what Joe Satriani or Steve Vai do. Hhaha..

But, I actually don’t really like the main plot. It’s a little bit ridiculous and has a hanging ending.

3 STAR for this film..

Popular Vs. Original Music

When you look at the billboard charts, is that what you consider the best music? What you hear and see on MTV, is that what you consider the best music? Why do people judge music on what other people say? All of these things are what people seem to judge there favorite bands or musicians on right now.

It seems that the average person forgets to listen to original music. Too many people tend to listen what is popular and what is the norm these days and bands that come out with something original they don't get any recognition. Now this could mean an original sound in rock, rap, classical, folk or any type of music. These are my thoughts on popular music, and what you should think when you listen to the radio or watch MTV, MTV 2, VH1, and Fuse, so on and so on.

1. Look and listen for a band with an original sound and look. So many bands these days that are considered "popular" are bands that a carbon copy of something that has happened before. It seems that the music buyers only tend to buy what is popular then to find something that they would actually like. Sounds that original are not hard to find all you have to do is look on the internet for bands signed on independent labels, because most of these bands are still playing for the joy of playing music and not for the money. You can very easily find MP3's of these bands on certain websites.

2. Don't buy into all the hype MTV and other stations put into a band. More often then not all the hype that a station puts into a band is because of a large push by the bands record label and their manager, and not because their music is actually good and original. If you actually watch television for the music aspect then you are there for the wrong reason because really in music an image shouldn't matter. the music is what mattered first, after that the media made their image an issue. This is why it's sickening to see celebrities and musicians being hounded by the media, because their image should not matter, but only their work; their art should be what is at the focal point. It's time to stop watching Entertainment Television, and reading gossip magazines, actually taking in the music for what it is worth. When you listen to music, listen for harmony, a good hook and something original in the sound, when you go to a concert look for a good stage presence and something shows you that these guys are for real (don't just go because your friends are).

My final thoughts are that you should not put so much thought into what is on the billboard charts, TRL or on VH1's top 20. Because I guarantee that if you look online, for an indie punk, rock, acoustic, funk or whatever you like, you will find a group or musician that is more devoted and that has more meaning and heart into their music.

It just takes some time and some effort to find some really good music. Many indie bands CD's can be found in smaller record stores. And many of these bands can be found right in your own town at coffee shops, bars and other places. Plus go out and watch these bands at a small venue and show them your support, because they are in the same boat as us trying to play what we love and that’s music, music that is original to us. And one day I hope I can be on MTV to tell them that their music sucks, oh wait I forgot they don't play music. Hwakakakkaaakk =D

SubGenres Of Metal

Hi All, Now I want to explain some well-known sub genres of Metal. I put a list of categories and examples of bands either. Maybe some of you are still confused about it.

Metal music has evolved into many many different types of music over the years, more quickly than other genres. What originally started as metal is now known as classic metal.

So, Check It Out!!

Black Metal

It’s considered to be the most extreme subgenre of metal. The genre has its origins in early thrash/speed metal and is often (but not always) characterized by Satanic or occult lyrical themes, usually 'screamed' out rather than sang. Venom and Bathory are credited with pioneering the genre. Other notable black metal artists include Darkthrone, Immortal, Emperor, Satyricon and Mayhem.

Blues Rock

Most important early heavy metal performers were rooted solidly in blues rock: Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin.

Death Metal

It’s such an extreme style of metal with low-pitched guitars and growling, often incomprehensible vocals. Lyrical themes of early death metal often centered on gore horror (hence the term), although the genre has since diversified. Here are the examples, Bolt Thrower, Mortification, Death, Morbid Angel, Deicide and Entombed. Also see Melodic death metal.

Folk Metal

A style incorporates folk music instruments or themes. Skyclad is probably the most known band in this genre. See Subway To Sally and In Extremo.

Goth Metal

A fusion of the bleak, icy atmospherics of goth rock with the loud guitars and aggression of heavy metal, finding the middle ground between the two styles in a melodramatic sense of theater and lyrical obsessions with religion and horror. Bands include Theatre Of Tragedy, Paradise Lost, Lacrimosa, Tristania, My Dying Bride and Type O Negative.

Grunge Metal

It is sometimes seen as distinct from grunge itself, although combining elements of both grunge and metal. Prominent grunge metal acts include Alice in Chains and King's X.

Hard Rock

A progression from blues rock and early psychedelia and a precursor to heavy metal. It was pioneered in the mid to late 1960s by artist such as Jimi Hendrix and Steppenwolf, with British bands such as Led Zeppelin, Cream and Free developing it further. It is hard to distinguish hard rock from early heavy metal, some artist such as Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Queen and AC/DC fall into both styles.

Hardcore

Originating as extreme and chaotic version of punk rock but crossed over into Heavy metal due to its similarities in heaviness and aggression. It was also a pivotal influence to thrash metal and later grindcore and Metalcore. Some artists, most notably Suicidal Tendencies and D.R.I. crossed over styles from hardcore to heavy metal. Other notable hardcore acts include Bad Brains, Agnostic Front, Black Flag and Minor Threat.

Metalcore

This style is a fusion between hardcore and thrashes Metal. Notable metalcore artists include Hatebreed and Killswitch Engage.

Nu Metal

Features a pronounced hip hop influence, and guitar technique is often different from "traditional metal." Some argue nu-metal is a misnomer, stating the genre has very little to do with heavy metal. See Korn, Papa Roach, Staind, Slipknot, Orgy, Drowning Pool, Machine Head and Limp Bizkit.

Progressive Metal

Combining elements of progressive rock and heavy metal. See Dream Theater, Symphony X, Stratovarius and Dragon Force.

Speed Metal

Speed metal has its origins in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal with bands such as Motorhead, Raven, Venom, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest often combining heavy metal with the speed of punk rock. The style often overlaps Thrash metal, although speed metal is regarded as being more melodic. Other notable speed metal acts include Watchtower and Racer X.

Thrash Metal

Incorporated hardcore punk's speed with traditional metal. Slayer, Overkill and early Metallica and Megadeth. As is true for many of the terms in this list, the moniker "thrash metal" was not always embraced by its supposed representatives; early on, Metallica referred to themselves as "power metal" (conflicting with the above definition of this term). Conversely, many more or less obscure bands, like Kreator, came up with equally obscure classifications for themselves, such as hate metal. Such labels were often soon forgotten or reused for something else. It was not the big four; it was actually the big five, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus, Pantera, and Metallica.

The History Of Music

Rock music is one of the broadest descriptions of music around. Completely different bands, such as Greenday and Mayhem, both get put under the “rock” banner, but these to bands couldn’t be more different. The “Rock Banner” is made up of many different types of music, and each one has its own different styles and techniques.

The first type of rock music is now known as classic rock. Classic rock is what most people think of rock ’n’ roll. This genre is very blues based, and lots of songs feature the traditional 12 bar blues pattern, but unlike the blues, classic rock tends to be more focused around the key of G major, and the solos usually are more riff based, than the slow melodic blues style. Also vocals play a much bigger role in classic rock, than it did in the blues. Classic rock is very much an evolution of the blues. Some classic rock bands to try are; Led Zeppelin, ACDC, and Guns ‘n’ Roses.

Now days we have what is usually known as modern rock. Similar to classic rock in many ways, such as its blues origin, modern rock is an evolution of classic rock for the modern age. Unlike classic rock, it usually is more riffs based, and sticks firmly in E minor pentatonic. Some modern rock bands to try are Velvet Revolver, and the Darkness.

Music had very much got its talent back by the 80s, with punk dieing down and hair metal rising, a new revolution was due, and it came with a man named Kurt Cobain.

The 90s was the birth of grunge. Inspired by punk acts, like The Melvins, grunge came from Seattle in America and it became a world wide hit, led by the band Nirvana. Grunge is like punk, but it is usually a lot darker, features pop melodies, but blends them with cutting heavily distorted guitars, and very heavy drumming. The album Nevermind by Nirvana completely changed music at the time. So many bands formed simply because of this album, and grunge became the big thing, but the guitarist/singer/songwriter of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, was what grunge was all about, and after his tragic suicide in 1994, grunge died with him. Some grunge bands to try; Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Bush.

The 90s was also the period where metal evolved the most though. While everyone else was moshing to the grunge sounds of nirvana, the few metal heads waited for their next big thing, and this came with Pantera. This band was very influential, and it inspired one of the most commercially successful genres of metal music, Nu-Metal.

These days a new music genre has evolved, emotional music, or Emo for short. Heavily hated by most people who aren’t Emo (unjustly) Emo is the fastest genre of music to get so hated. I happen to quite like Emo though. Emo is usually sad, and the lyrics are depressing. The music is in a minor key, and features broken chords quite heavily. The vocals are usually in a slight whiney voice, with lots of harmonising, and usually a very strong vocal hook in the chorus. Some Emo bands to try; Thrice, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and Funeral For A Friend.

Today a lot of the popular music scene is Indie rock. Indie rock is so called because the bands used to be very unpopular, and had to go on small independent labels, but these days the term means nothing, as most “Indie” bands are on major label deals. Indie rock usually features simple chord progressions, and clean guitar sounds. Some Indie bands focus on one melody, and work through that (Arcade Fire) but others use many different melodies at the same time, with a bass line to fit them together (Bloc Party). Like nearly all other types of music, power chords are used, and the lyrics are usually about real life. Some Indie bands to try; Bloc Party, The Subways, Arcade Fire, The Kooks, and Babyshambles.

Over time rock music has changed from just classic rock, to all the many genres we have now, and in this article I have only covered the main ones, but my favorite thing about rock music is the diversity that it offers in styles and sounds of the music I choose, and although I enjoy other genres, like jazz, pop, and classical, rock music remains my favorites.

Hhhooyy,, those all the stuffs I can elaborate.. I still need more information about music from you all, guys.. Keep Rockin!! ^_^

MUSIC, MUSIC, AND MUSIC

Music is Soul
Music is Life
Music is Breath
Music is Everything

Music Has No Boundaries, Recognize it As Art
We all love music
Appreciate it as self expressions

Do not humiliate any musicians!!

If you truly have a love for music then you should learn to appreciate what it is: art. It is a puzzle you can put together any way you want to. You don't have to do what's "cool" and complain about how much someone sucks. If you were really smart and not so weak-minded you would realize that the artist is just doing what they love: making/performing music. All punkers, all rockers, all rappers, and all nu-metal groups are constantly picked on. They're just doing their thing, they're expressing themselves.

And if you are still that stubborn and thick-headed after reading this article to complain about solos or how much a musician sucks, I pity you. You may continue to complain, but just remember that no one is listening to you and no one really cares.
